Apr. 22, 2008

We’d like to update you on the ConnectOregon II application review process. The applications have been reviewed by their respective advisory committees (air, rail, freight, marine and public transit), as well as the regional Area Commissions on Transportation and a specially created Portland area committee (because there is no ACT covering the Portland metro area). These recommendations have been forwarded to the ConnectOregon Final Review Committee.

The Final Review Committee, consisting of 26 volunteers from each of the modal and regional committees, industry groups, and other stakeholders, will evaluate the modal and review committees’ recommendations during a two-day meeting. The public is invited to attend.

Tues., April 29 and Wed., April 30
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Holiday Inn Portland Airport
8439 NE Columbia Blvd.
Portland

The committee is charged with finalizing a prioritized list of projects for the $100 million program that the Oregon Transportation Commission will review at a public hearing in May. The OTC is scheduled to make its project selection in June.

A complete list of all the review committees’ recommendations is available on the ConnectOregon web site.

Greetings from the ConnectOregon II team at the Oregon Department of Transportation.

It’s time now for ConnectOregon applications to be reviewed via “modes” (aviation, marine, rail, transit and freight). On Jan. 17, members of the various modal review committees will receive project packages. Reviews will get underway in the next few weeks. Each committee sets its own agenda and schedule.

Each project is also being assessed for feasibility independent of modal committee review; these Feasibility Reports will be completed in early February and will be available to the modal committees prior to the end of the modal review period. Ineligible projects and projects that did not provide sufficient detail will be eliminated from the process and will be notified.

An additional review of economic benefit to the state, completed by ODOT economists and reviewed by the Oregon Economic and Community Development Department, will also be available to modal reviewers in early February.

Keep up-to-date on the ConnectOregon process by visiting the ConnectOregon Web site.
