Safety and Loss Control Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Human Resources Director performs a wide variety of administrative duties of considerable complexity administering many of the District’s safety and loss control efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (following description covers the most significant duties performed but does not include other occasional work which may be assigned which would be similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Valid Oregon Class C driver’s license and driving record which demonstrates adherence to safety and traffic laws and regulations.

No criminal conviction which may, in the sole judgment of the District, constitute a threat to property or the safety of others.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Risk Management, Business Administration or related field, two years professional safety or risk management experience, and two years experience administering worker compensation and/or liability insurance claims OR any satisfactory equivalent combination of related experience and training which provides required knowledge, abilities, and skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Primarily an office working environment. However, on occasion incumbent is required to perform duties in areas where s/he may be exposed to loud noise, severe weather conditions, and fumes: within a bus maintenance shop environment, while riding transit vehicles, or while being outdoors.

Must travel occasionally to attend meetings and conferences or to investigate safety and risk management related matters.

Is required to respond to emergencies on short notice at any hour, and provide own transportation to emergencies.

Starting Salary: $52,957.32 - $68,926.52 per year

Transportation Demand Management Planner

RVTD
TDM PLANNER POSITION SUMMARY
Conducts professional transportation planning work in accordance with the goals and requirements of the District, including employer trip-reduction programs, rideshare coordination and TDM planning in collaboration with regional governments. Under general direction of the Senior Planner, employee will work closely with the Districts Planning, Marketing, and Administrative staff, reporting on activities and progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as necessary.)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises contractors including assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. Provides oversight to the TDM Coordinator staff position responsible for tasks related to education, public outreach and event coordination.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Post-Secondary Education from a college or university; or two to four years directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Spanish fluency is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Familiarity with email, editing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet software applications. Familiarity with web design, graphic design and databases, are all pluses.

WRITING SKILLS
Ability to write technical reports, narratives and speeches. Familiarity with marketing and various media such as Television and Radio is a plus.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid and current driver's license.

Supervisor

Basin Transit Transportation District
Basin Transit Service Transportation District is looking for a quality person to work as a Transportation Field Supervisor. Minimum qualifications include some supervisory experience, transportation experience as an operator or driver, an outstanding driving record, and excellent references. An ability to obtain a Class B license (CDL) with endorsements is also necessary.

Transportation Manager

City of Berkeley
The City of Berkeley, located in Northern California, is seeking a proven transportation professional to serve as the new Transportation Manager. Reporting to the Director of Public Works, the Manager will have oversight management responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the Transportation Division, including transportation planning, transportation engineering, parking services, and alternative transportation programs.
