From Passenger Transport - House, Senate Pass 90 Day SAFETEA-LU Extension:  On March 29, the House passed a 90 day extension of SAFETEA-LU.  The extension passed by a vote of 266 to 158 with 37 Democrats voting in favor and 10 Republicans voting against it.  This bill was forwarded to the Senate which passed it by unanimous consent thus advancing it to the White House for approval before the expiration on March 31.   For more details, see APTA's Legisaltive Alert. 

Federal Transit Administration offers 30-minute online safety course "Curbing Transit Employee Distracted Driving":  The FTA encourages the transit industry to make the course a part of ongoing distracted driving programs and/or fold into existing employee safety and training curriculum.  Click to view the Administration's Dear Colleague Letter about the course.  For information on course registration, click here.

Update on BETC Rulemaking: 
The Oregon Department of Energy has released draft permanent administrative rules for the Transit Services Energy Incentive Program (formerly the BETC) that must be adopted before the temporary rules expire on July 10, 2012.  View the draft permanent rules.  A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for April 13 in Salem.  Information on that meeting, as well as past meeting materials and agendas can be found on the ODOE website.
